2. Scope of this Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how personal data is processed when using the app “California Tax Info Guide (Unofficial)”.

3. Data Processed in the App

On-device data: Any settings you choose inside the app (for example, “don’t show this disclaimer again” or similar preferences) are stored only locally on your device and are not transmitted to us.

Internet usage: The app accesses the internet only to:

  • Open external official information websites (e.g., FTB, IRS)
  • Display advertisements via Google AdMob (see section 4)

4. Advertising with Google AdMob

We use Google AdMob to show ads in the app. Provider: Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland and, where applicable, Google LLC (USA).

Possible data types (depending on device settings/consent):

  • Advertising/device ID (AAID), IP address, approximate region/location (derived), device information
  • Ad usage and interaction data, diagnostic data for fraud prevention and error analysis

Purposes: Providing ads (possibly personalized), frequency capping, reach/measurement,
security and fraud prevention.

Legal basis: In the EEA/UK, processing for personalized advertising is based on your consent. Without consent, only non-personalized ads (NPA) or no ads are shown. Outside the EEA/UK, processing may be based on our legitimate interests in financing and operating the app.

Data transfers to third countries: A transfer to the USA is possible. Google relies, among other things, on Standard Contractual Clauses (SCC) for such transfers.

Further information:

Google Privacy Policy
and AdMob Help.

5. Consent & Withdrawal

In regions where consent is required (for example EEA/UK), we may show a consent dialog regarding ads. You can change your choice at any time in the app settings (if provided) or via your device settings.

Device-level options (Android): Settings → Google → Ads (reset advertising ID, opt out of ad personalization).

6. Permissions

The app does not require any special permissions (such as access to contacts, camera, or location). Internet access is used only for external links and advertisements.

7. External Links

When you open external websites (for example, official tax information from the California Franchise Tax Board or the Internal Revenue Service), the privacy policies of those providers apply. We have no control over the content or data processing on those external sites.

8. Storage Duration

  • On-device data: Remains on your device until you uninstall the app or clear the app data
    via your system settings.
  • AdMob data: Is stored and processed by Google for specific purposes according to Google’s own
    retention periods.

9. Your Rights (GDPR, where applicable)

Where the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) applies, you may have the right to request access, rectification, deletion, restriction of processing, data portability and to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority.

10. Children’s Privacy

This app is not directed at children under the age of 13 and is not designed for their use. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
